High-resolution, quantitative 3D PET image reconstruction for the Siemens hybrid 3T MR/BrainPET scanner using the PET reconstruction software toolkit (PRESTO)

چکیده
Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine-4, Forschungszentrum Juelich, Germany The Siemens 3T MR-BrainPET scanner allows us to simultaneously acquire high-resolution MR and PET images thus giving a strong asset for studies of the human brain. Meanwhile, the system is routinely used for MR-PET studies with a variety of radiotracers, e.g. F-FDG, F-FET, C-Raclopride, C-Flumazenil, O-Water. Based on the vendors’ sinogram-based reconstruction, quantitative dynamic images are obtained. However, this reconstruction uses compressed data in terms of span (axial) and mash (transaxial). Avoiding such data reduction strategies is desirable to improve the image quality. In this context, the PET Reconstruction Software Toolkit (PRESTO) provides better image quality in terms of resolution and noise at the expense of increased computational effort. For the first time, an accurate quantification with PRESTO has been achieved

Ultra fast, accurate PET image reconstruction for the Siemens hybrid MR/BrainPET scanner using raw LOR data
Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, Jülich, Germany Fast PET image reconstruction algorithms usually use a Line-of-Response (LOR) preprocessing step where the detected raw LOR data are interpolated either to evenly spaced sinogram projection bins or alternatively to a generic projection space as for example proposed by the PET Reconstruction Software Toolkit (PRESTO) [1]. In this way, speed-optimise...
متن کاملPET motion correction using PRESTO with ITK motion estimation
Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, Science Faculty of University of Lisbon, Portugal The Siemens BrainPET scanner is a hybrid MRI/PET system. PET images are prone to motion artefacts which degrade the image quality. Therefore, motion correction is essential. The library PRESTO converts motion-corrected LORs into highly accurate generic projection data [1], providing high-resolu...

Centre for Medical Image Computing, University College London, London, UK Simultaneous PET and MR acquisitions have now become possible with the new hybrid Biograph Molecular MR (mMR) scanner from Siemens. The purpose of this work is to create a platform for mMR 3D and 4D PET image reconstruction which would be freely accessible to the community as well as fully adjustable in order to obtain op...
متن کاملSimultaneous PET and MR Imaging with a Newly Developed 3TMR-BrainPET Scanner
A prototype of a new bimodal scanner was installed in our laboratory. This scanner combines magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) for brain studies. As the PET detector is located within the bore of the MRI scanner, simultaneous measurements become possible. The MR-component consists of a commercial 3T MRI scanner MAGNETOM Tim-Trio, whereas the PET detector Bra...
